Family Saturday Fun

Saturday we were able to spend the day with all of the McKenzie cousins.

It has been so much fun watching our families grow. It is hard to believe a few years ago the family only consisted of two kids, Luke & Grace. Now there are five little ones very close in age!

The day consisted of: cousin time, watermelon, river swimming, pizza, walks, hotdogs, and lots of LOVE!

This watermelon did not last long with our crowd.

How cute are these two together?!?! Makes my heart burst open!

Who knows how long it will be before this crew gets all together again, but these are the moments!

Father's Day 2016

My kids are so blessed to have such an amazing dad! He works very hard to provide for his family, is always involved, never passive, the most perfect daddy for our three, and most importantly points their hearts to the Lord. We love him so deeply!

Our weekend began by our first hike as a family of five. All the of the kids were such troopers, especially Grace walking the entire 3+ hours! (ice cream at the end is always a big motivator)

The weekend ended with naps, golf watching, mexican food and a lot of snuggles for the dad whose kids truly believe he hung the moon!

Fish Stories

Grace LOVES water. Anything to be around water makes her happy. One thing she loves to do around water is fish. She has gone fishing a lot in the past year, but has yet to catch a fish until...

This girl could not have been more proud! (and so was her daddy)
Daddy and daughter dates are the best!

Memorial Weekend

Memorial Weekend was a really quick and fun weekend! The weekend began with introducing Emma to her great grandmother, Mema. (you can check out that post  here)

Then we went to go eat lunch with Grandma and Dan. She filled our bellies till they were overflowing! Of course the hit for the kids (aka Michael) was the homemade banana ice cream.

Then we headed to the lake to spend time with Grandmommy and Papa. While are the lake we enjoyed relaxing, swimming, boating, tubing, catching up with family, and eating.

Emma slept the weekend away! She had so many people to hold her that she was so content (that is until time to get in the car seat for the drive home).

The highlight definitely for David Michael was driving Papa's boat. (look how hard he is concentrating!) David Michael did not care for swimming, but boating and vacuuming were definitely top on his list!

Grace could have stayed in the water the entire time! She thoroughly enjoyed swimming and playing with her Aunts!

We are so excited that summer has arrived!

Our Weekend

This weekend we had a lot of fun having family time. It has been a while since it was just the four of us. Saturday morning David Michael and I slept in until almost 9am!! Definitely a record, but seriously I could have slept till the next morning. Of course is it technically sleeping in when we were up at 1am, 3am, and 5am??

We decided to get ready and take Grace to a church down the road for an Easter egg hunt. She did collect some eggs, but there was a playground and she really just wanted to play! After we came home she realized there was candy inside the eggs, and I wonder if she might have changed her mind and collected more eggs if she had known that before hand :)

After eating hotdogs and candy it was nap time because we had something special planning for the afternoon!

BOWLING! Grace went on her first bowling excursion. She absolutely LOVED it! She did not want to leave. She was actually a lot better than we thought she would be too.

The day turned out to be a great family fun filled day!

Happy Easter!

He is not dead! He is risen! Just as He Said!

We had a wonderful weekend filled with Joy and family.

Saturday we had the opportunity of driving to my brother and sister-in-law's house in Troutman, NC. We cooked out and caught up with the entire family. (except Margaret Cross- we missed you)

My sister-in-law's brother and his wife, Thomas and Kathryn, recently added a new member to the family and we were overjoyed to meet Lemi! Grace loved playing with him and can not wait to see him again!

Sunday was spent with our little family going to church, eating an excellent lunch, an easter egg hunt and lots of time relaxing and soaking up the vitamin D.

Most of all we are so thankful and grateful that HE is NOT dead, but alive and we will be able to spend eternity with HIM!

Weekend Update

This past weekend was actually relaxing and fun. Saturday morning we went yardsaling as a family. Which we have never done before, but was a lot of fun, even though we did not buy anything. Going to yard sales is easy when you have a toddler in the house who wants to wake up at 5 am!

After a family run, we headed back to the house to cool off.

Grace LOVES water! She could have stayed in the pool the entire day if we let her!

Saturday night we had some very special people come to visit. They came up to celebrate Michael's 31st birthday. The evening was filled with good food, an excellent cake, great company, laughs, a fire and a wonderful birthday party!

These truly are the days of our lives!

Our Last Two Weekends

The last two weekends we have been fortunate enough to have family in town!

Last weekend Grace's Aunt Margaret came in town and Grace was so happy to see her!

We were able to get a lot of running, playing and outside time.

We found a new park to explore.

Then this weekend Grandma came to visit. It is always nice to layback and relax. Grandma and Grace baked a cake on Friday for Michael's upcoming birthday.

Grace loves being in the kitchen, especially when there is food to eat!

After eating all of the cake, Grace needed to play outside and help her daddy cut the grass.

Then Grandma and Grace got some a lot time, so mommy and daddy got to go on a much needed date! (last date was October)

We absolutely love to have family in town and covet the time we get to spend with them.

Our Weekend...

For months we have been talking about taking away Grace's paci. Well that is as far as it went... talking. We had already limited her to only having it in her crib and on long car rides. Well... honestly, I just loved our routine and did not want to throw a bump in the road. Grace is an EXCELLENT sleeper. She really tells us when she wants to go to bed and goes right to sleep. Takes great naps and never complains.

Friday we bit the bullet (after Michael and I renting a movie and making brownies- setting up for a LONG night) and made a big deal about throwing paci in the trashcan and waving goodbye. We read a little book about saying goodbye to paci. She understood and went right to bed without even a single cry. She woke up early, but for the most part we had a great night!

Saturday, we got up early with Grace and I headed out the door for an 8 mile run! I love this warm spring weather we have been having lately! The rest of the day was filled with more work on the fence and a Lowes run.

Well I know you have been anxiously awaiting to see what the fence looks like...

Well what do you think? We LOVE it! Michael was busy today building gates, while Grace and I played the day away.

There are a few more things to complete on the fence, but before too long we will have it completed. (by we you know I mean Michael)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend, even though we did lose an hour.

Mommy and Grace Time

Grace and I got to spent a lot of time together this weekend! You see we had to stay out of daddy's way. He was busy working and building a fence for us!

Saturday was filled with a Target run (and when I say "run" we really just wonder and I put things in the cart and then out and then lose and put them back in, because I always find too many things that we "need" at Target). We even grabbed lunch out to be away from the house until nap time. We came home to see our fence coming along and close to complete!

Sunday Grace and I had even more girl time (still leaving daddy at home) and celebrated a very happy 3 year old's birthday. The party was at a local gymnastic center. Grace did not want to leave the foam pit! She stayed in here what seemed like forever! (I need one in my living room- a huge play pen!)

We left the party only to head to the park and play some more. Grace was in bed (after a long soapy bath) early! Actually so was her momma and dad-dad.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

ps. What do you think of the new design!?!?
