Birthday Planning...

Birthday planning is in full swing over here! Time just flies by too quickly! Up until last week I had really not even thought about this little one's birthday. I did not want to believe that she would be a YEAR old. It still is hard to wrap my mind around!

So I had to get to work. I quickly ordered invitations from Walgreens. They always are giving out coupons and they can have them made that day; that worked out well for me and the invitations were in the mail that afternoon.

I also knew I wanted something cute for her to eat her first bite of cake. Kari over at Kari's Creative Kreations made this shirt exactly the way I had envisioned. I just gave her a few hints and let her creative mind run. It turned out better than I expected.

The theme for the party is green and pink. I picked up pink and green straws and some cool green recorders (from the dollar sections at Target!).

Grace's daddy is going to make the cake for her and I am going to bake pink and green cupcakes. That is where the planning has stopped... Any suggestions or recommendations??? I need help!!! I want this little girl's birthday to be special! Thanks

SUMMER VACATION!!!

Vacation for us this year was filled with a lot of quality extended family time. The first stop on our trip was at Grandpa and Grandmommy's house. This stop was filled with a running, swimming, eating, playing and relaxing.

Stop number two was Michael's and I's grandparents. We are fortunate that both of our grandparents live in the same town. Michael spent a lot of time with his grandpa doing whatever he needed; which was mostly pressure washing. I also got to help my Mema by cleaning her house. We are blessed with amazing, Godly Grandparents!

The final stop on our trip was Uncle Elliott's house in Boone; and of course you can not go there and not go hiking! We also love going to the Highland Games on Grandfather Mountain every year. This is a fun filled day of bagpipes, Scottish dancing, wrestling, running, and family.

Sad vacation is over, but it is always good to be home.

In My Blood...

I can't escape it... It is in my blood...Even on vacation... We RUN!

I am blessed and cursed with a family of runners.
I remember waking up before school to a sweaty MOM making us breakfast, after her run.
My little BROTHER, Oliver, ran for Wingate University in North Carolina and now works for Charlotte Running Company. (Which if you ever need awesome service and advice on running shoes go check them out!)
Callie, my SISTER-IN-LAW and Oliver's wife, just recently ran her first half marathon and I am so very proud of her!

Margaret, my SISTER, has run 2 half marathons and runs almost every day and happens to be one of my favorite running partners.

My baby SISTER, Rebekah, and my lovable SISTER, Karen have both recently gotten the running bug.
I have a very talented and successful BROTHER-IN-LAW, Justin, or otherwise known as Coach Mac. He ran in college at Lees McRae and set records! He has been the coach of the state multiple times for cross country and track!

I also have another very wonderful BROTHER-IN-LAW who ran for Brevard College in North Carolina and continues to run races. (and wins)
Most talented of all is my HUSBAND. (I am not biased at all) He has coach track and cross country and has run multiple marathons with me, even though he doesn't enjoy them. He even ran the Edinburgh marathon for me, because I was very pregnant and could not, but let me finish the last 3 miles! Now that is love!

As you can tell there is no getting around it. We ALL love running because it will always be in our blood. I am so thankful and blessed with my wonderful running family!

Fourth of July Festivities

Fourth of July is for family, fireworks, fun and food!

We kicked off our Fourth of July morning with a family race. Thankfully most of my family loves to run. We woke up bright and early on Thursday morning and all headed out with our red, white and blue. My parents live on a lake in Albemarle, NC. Downtown Albemarle there is an awesome store Vac and Dash where they sell vacuum cleaners and running apparel. They were hosting a FREE four mile race on Thursday morning. They had a great turnout and a lot of fun! (about 200 people) I have to brag too, my baby brother won the entire race! GO BRO, I am so proud!

My little girl was such a great little racer! She even was clapping for her mommy at the end!

After the race we headed back to the house for fun, food, and swimming.

This baby loves the water. She could play in the lake all day!

The lake is Addis's favorite place in the world! You can not keep her out of the water.

Uncle Oliver and Aunt Callie brought a new member into our family. This is little baby Win. Is he not the most adorable!?!?

Grace had so much fun playing with her Grandpa.

Of course running, swimming, eating, playing can tire you out quite a bit!

After all the fun it was nap time with Aunt Rebekah.

I hope you and your family had a wonderful 4th!

Life Lately...

Summer is in full swing here and we have been very busy. Things we have been working on:

  • We now have all our new doors installed! This sounds easy, but was much more involved than you might imagine. A lot of: sanding, painting, drilling, planing off the bottom of the doors, installing hardware, and now finally enjoying them!

  • We have been tending to our beautiful garden!

  • I had a yard sale on Saturday. It was a lot of fun and the best part is I actually made some money!
  • Aunt Karen came for a visit and is always so very helpful while she is here!
  • Making loaves and loaves of zucchini bread! I have now delivered 6 loaves of bread, and we have eaten countless!
  • Last but not least the last couple days have been filled with PACKING! Vacation officially starts tonight! (I will fill you in more on all we do later!)
  • OH and Grace wants you to know we have been doing a lot of playing!!!
Have a wonderful week!
Hi! I'm Katie. Wife to Michael. Mom to Grace, David Michael & Emma. Christ Follower. Runner. Stay at home mommy.
