My Top 5 Favorite Posts

I began this blogging adventure over four years ago. I really started blogging to have a place to keep track of my kid's milestones. It rapidly became a place where I found community. I had just moved to a new town and started a new job of being mommy.

Over the past four years and almost four hundred posts, I have put together a list of what I would consider my personal favorites:

1. This first post was how we decided to reveal the gender of our first child, Grace, to our families. I remember that day like it was yesterday! I was so convinced that we were going to have a boy, I even wore a blue shirt that day. In our backyard we set up the self timer on the camera and had so much fun! I will always look back on that day with a smile and fond memories!

2. This next post is a rather lengthy list of things that I want Grace to know. But... even though there are some good things on this list, ultimately as long as Grace knows our Savior and Lord then my job is complete. As I have grown and now have more children and have been married longer there are some things that I might change and add or take away from this list, but overall a good list of things to remember.

3. This next post actually drew some positive and really more negative attention. I never really intended those feelings and disagreements from my reader, but as a first time mom I was truly sharing my feelings. There are a lot of changes that new moms go through.

4. David Michael is such a blessing to our family! It is so neat to look back and see how far he has come. God is truly amazing and we thank Him everyday for our little "Hunkster".

5. I wrote this last post not too long ago. I tend to share a lot of my woes on the blog, but I really struggle with not seeing all the blessings that the Lord has given me. The day I wrote this post I was really feeling down. I needed to change my mindset and this post helped me do that.

I hope you have enjoyed my little walk down memory lane. I always love looking back and seeing what the Lord has done!

My prayer

The past two weeks I have been experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. Through my joys, fears, worry, excitement, and anxiety You have been there. I have been praying, but not really listening. Because if I was truly listening I would know that,

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
His mercies never come to an end;
They are new every morning;
Great is your faithfulness.

Through these past few weeks, I have laughed and cried. These past few years I have let my circumstances stunt me and eat away my contentment. Thankfully I serve a forgiving and gracious God. He offers me acceptance way beyond the state of my four walls. And He promised to abide with and in me. If I can only take my eye off myself for a moment to catch a glimpse of the glorious invitation to make my home in Him. Everything begins and ends in His hands. His good hands that can be trusted to hold me as I mourn as well as when I rejoice.

Lord, please keep working on me. I know I am a work in progress, but thankfully through these growing pains. I am growing.

Amen.

Update on David Michael

David Michael has been diagnosed with tracheomalacia. "Tracheomalacia in a newborn occurs when the cartilage in the windpipe, or trachea, has not developed properly. Instead of being rigid, the walls of the trachea are floppy, resulting in breathing difficulties soon after birth. Babies born with tracheomalacia may have other congenital abnormalities such as heart defects, developmental delay, or gastroesophageal reflux. Also, aspiration pneumonia can occur from inhaling food. Symptoms include: breathing noises that may change with position and improve during sleep, breathing problems that get worse with coughing, crying, feeding, or upper respiratory infections and high-pitched or rattling breathing." (According to Johns Hopkins)

He is definitely a trooper and the sweetest little baby. I hate to see him in pain or struggling! He has been taking zantac (a reflux medicine) three times a day, which seems to help some. He breaths a lot better when he is being held up or on his belly. When he is laying flat in the pack n play he has a really difficult time breathing which in turn wakes him up. We have developed a little system where his daddy stays up with him till 1am and then I stay up with him the rest of the night. We have tried putting him in the swing, bouncer, and carseat. Nothing lasts because he struggles breathing and it wakes him up.

I have been assured from friends and family that he will outgrow this condition and be fine, but it definitely terrifies and concerns this momma.

The BIGGEST caution and risk with this diagnosis is that if he develops any kind of respiratory sickness it could become life threatening. That being said we are pretty much hanging out on the couch. For David Michael and little runny nose could be life threatening. So be ware that if you come over to our house you will be washing your hand and not allowed in with any kind of cold.

Please pray with us that he will outgrow this quickly without any complications! We know our God is much bigger than we are and loves this little guy more than we could even imagine!

My Love

Today's post is all about Michael, my best friend, my husband, Grace's dad-dad, and the best person I know.

Michael has been gone for the last 3 weeks. You see his heart is bigger than anyone that I know. He loves all people "red, yellow, black and white". He was across the world sharing the good news of our Savior to people who have never even heard His name.

Some people might turn their head and wonder why he would leave his family, pay money, eat "interesting" food, sleep on the floor and fly on a plane for 24 hrs? He has a call on a his life for the unreached people of the world. For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”(Romans10:13-15)

I know it is hard for most to believe that there ARE people in our world today that have not heard the word "Jesus", but there are millions! Now thankfully there are many more people who know the name of our Lord!

Even though it was hard for Grace and I to be here alone, we will gratefully be prayer warriors. Thank you for all who gave your time, energy and prayers.
