Baby #2 Update

Around Grace's birthday (August 17th) the baby fever began and I was ready for Grace to have a baby sister or brother. We began the nerve wracking wait... Month after month sadly there was no baby. God was really teaching me a lot about patience and His timing. After 8 long months of tears, frustration, broken hearts and lots of prayers... Our dream came true!

I was so excited when I the test FINALLY came back positive I ran immediately in and told Michael. If I would have actually been using my brain and not my emotions, I would have remembered that the next day was his birthday and I could have thought of some creative way to tell him. But... since I was running with my emotions I ran straight in and announced the good news without hesitation!

The excitement dwindled when I had my first ultrasound and the doctor saw a bleed in my uterus. I had to take it easy for a few weeks. This included: no running, not picking up Grace (Ok mommies you know this is impossible... highchair, car seat, crib) and staying off my feet as much as possible. These weeks seemed to creep by!

Thankfully my next appointment heartbeat was strong and no more bleeding. Now it was safe to spread the good news. The baby is now 12 weeks and growing strong. My official due date is December 9th, which seems far, far away at this point!

We will definitely be finding out the sex sometime in July. (you know how impatient I am!) Michael says it is a boy, but I know he will be very happy with whatever the Lords blesses us with.

So far this pregnancy does not feel like the same at all. With Grace I threw up ALL the time and I have not thrown up the first time. I have been SOOOO tired and somedays do not know how I make it through. Of course I know my tiredness has only been multiplied by chasing a toddler everywhere. Most of the day I dream about laying down on the couch, which usually doesn't happen. No food looks appealing, but I am very hungry. Not the easiest way to survive.

Grace and baby #2 will be 28 months apart. So if I could just get Grace potty trained and sleeping in a big girl bed then we will be in good shape. I know we have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are overjoyed and ready for double the fun!!!

Summer Recipes

It has been a while since I shared some new recipes with you. To be honest, I have not been experimenting with too many new recipes because it has been so pretty we have been doing a lot of grilling! Which is so easy for me and healthy.

Last week Michael and Grace did have a bit of a cold so I decided to nurse them back to health with some chicken and rice soup. This recipe was the easiest and tastiest soup recipe I have made in quite some time.  It also made a lot so I went ahead and put some in the freezer for the next time noses begin to run in my house.

We love asparagus in this house. So when I ran across this recipe I knew I had to give it a shot, of course it helped when I saw a lot of bacon too! 5 ingredients definitely helps my budget and my lack of time lately.

Here is the prefect summer dessert. Grace loved all the strawberries and blueberries! Even though there is a lot of sugar, it made me feel better with all the yummy berries. I know some of you have already gone berry picking this summer and this would be the prefect recipe to use up some of your berries. It also have a cute name "Berried Treasure".

I hope this will give you some new ideas for the next couple of days... Please feel free to share your recipes with me!

You know I had to leave you with a picture of my little lady!

Graduation and Mother's Day

This past weekend was a packed full holiday. One of my baby sisters, Karen, graduated from Covenant college! Karen is so bright, determined, ambitious, and so caring. She finished with a degree in phycology and wants a career in counseling young people.

She is truly a jewel and I can not wait to see what the Lord has for her in this life. (selfishly whatever it is... we hope it brings her closer to us!)

Saturday was packed full with graduation festivities, but then Sunday was a different holiday.

Mother's Day!!!

Sunday we all went to church as a family. (It is so great that our family has grown so much we no longer can fit on just one pew!) It was really nice to be able to see my mom on Mother's day as well.

My wonderful husband spoiled me with a spa day planned. (I know be jealous! I have the best!) I am so grateful to be in this family and more importantly be this little girl's momma.

Grace's Surprise

We went to visit my mother-in-law a few weeks ago and got a huge surprise! Grace's Great Aunt Mary came by to say hi and opened the trunk of her car and there it was... the sandbox I was been searching craigslist and yardsales for months. I knew Grace would love a place to get dirty, throw stuff, and build.   Aunt Mary made mine and Grace's day! We are so thankful to have such a wonderful and giving family!

I think that face says it all!!!
