Our Schedule Month 4-7

Over Grace's short life her schedule has changed drastically, but over the past couple months it has remained the same. I know when I was pregnant I loved reading people's daily schedule just to get a feel of what I was getting myself into.

6:45 - Our day begins when Grace wakes up. She is so cute when she wakes up, because we hear her on the monitor singing away. Her daddy uses her singing as his alarm clock, he gets up and gets her from her crib. We have a little bouncy seat in the bathroom. He changes her diaper and puts her in the bouncy seat while he gets ready.

7:30 - Nurse. Michael is getting ready to leave for work and Grace and I sit down to start our day.

(This is a picture from daddy dropping off Grace to mommy to get going.)

9:00 - Nap. Grace usually is very ready for this nap! She is really asking for it! She will sleep anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes. There is no way in knowing how long a nap will last? When she goes down, it becomes my time to workout. I try to workout the entire time she is sleeping, which will vary from day to day.

10:30 - Nurse.

12:00 - Nap. My time to catch up on cleaning.

1:30 - Nurse. In between feedings and napping, we get in a lot of play time!

3:00 - Nap. Usually by now I am tired and just want to sit down and catch up on blogging, e-mails and grocery lists.

4:30 - Nurse.

5:30 - Cereal. She has begun to love eating cereal. She gets excited when she sees me break out her colorful spoons!

6:00 - Nap. If Michael is home we try to eat, while she is down so we can actually talk and catch up on our days.

7:15 - Bath Time. Grace loves baths. Especially now that she has figured out how to kick water everywhere. We have been giving her a bath every night to keep her on her schedule, since days after bringing her home.

7:30 - Nurse.

8:00 - Bedtime. She usually goes down pretty good, because she is so tired. I lay her down, give her the pacifier, and put a crocheted blanket over her (that is so cute and I feel comfortable with her having it because she could breath through it if it went over her head).

(See isn't it the cutest blanket!)

I know our schedule will change soon. I just love having a detailed schedule to keep up with what is going on and I can plan activities better. I will keep you updated as our schedule changes.

Our "Eventful" Weekend

We might not have plans for the weekend, but somehow it NEVER ends up being relaxing and restful. BUT always fun!

Our weekend began with Grandpa coming for a visit! Grandmommy was having a girls weeked, so he decided to come and stay with us!

Our Saturday morning began with a wonderful breakfast of bacon and eggs, sitting around in our pajamas watching TV...

And then quickly became a yard work day.

Now this might look like a small job, but it rapidly turned into quite the big job!

Yes we took down trees, bushes, sticks, and a lot of weeds. We even had to break out the tractor! We are so very thankful for such wonderful neighbors who are willing to help!

Grace and I had to supervise the whole time, of course!

Grace loves being outside, this was the best day she has had in a long time!

Our day ended with a big bomb fire, burgers, and the company of wonderful neighbors and family!

ps. stay tuned to see the pictures of our new yard!

My First Marathon

As I said the other day, during my freshman year in college I decided I wanted to run a marathon. I think my family and friends thought I was crazy. That summer I ran all the time to be ready for fall 2004. I had picked out the Suntrust Richmond, Virginia marathon. I am not really sure why this one, but still to this day it remains my favorite race! The volunteers were wonderful and very friendly! The scenery changes very often, you will be running beside a river, then in the city, and then in a neighborhood. (I love having a lot of distractions.)

My mom and my baby sister accompanied me on my journey to VA. This being my first marathon, I did not know much about how big it was going to be! My only plans were to finish and to not walk. Other than that I had no plans. I had my favorite pair of running shorts, a cotton teeshirt, and a sweat shirt. My mom and sister dropped me off at the starting line in the freezing cold and told me they would find me after the race was done. I made my way up to the starting line, scared to death! (If you know me I really don't like crowds or a lot of people.) As I am anxiously waiting for the race to begin a girl comes up and stands beside me. She starts a conversations and come to find out this was not her first race. I asked her if I could run with her and she agreed. Her husband was up closer to the starting line because he was hoping on setting a PR. We heard the gun shot and we were off. To this day I do not know her name, but I ran the ENTIRE race with this girl. We talked about everything: family, christianity, love, running and anything else to keep our mind off of what we were doing. We crossed the finish line together at 4:03! Sadly, she saw her husband in a medic tent and ran off to be with him. I never saw here again. :( I started to look around for my mom and sister... they were no where to be found. I waited and waited and waited sometime about an hour later they come up to the finish line. I surprised them and myself how quickly I had finished! I was hooked! I could not get home soon enough to start training for my next race!

How My Running Career Began

Most of you know that I am obsessed with running! (I really mean obsessed too, meaning I always have my running shoes with me just in case.) Many of you might not know how it all began.

I grew up in a house with a mom who ran all the time. I wanted to be just like her! I would wake up in the morning and come down the stairs and she would already be back from her run, had her devotions and now would be making breakfast for us kids. (wow right!) She is amazing! Sometime during middle school I began waking up early to run with her. (I do not know what possessed me at all??) I began just running a mile loop and toward the end I would pretend to throw up so I could take a break. Slowly over time I began to make it around that mile loop and then I could go even further with her. Until one time during a snow storm, being locked in the house with EVERYONE, I went for a run and kept going. I made it that day 10 miles and thought I had conquered the world! I was addicted! During college it became "my time". I decided my freshmen year to run a marathon. I am not quite sure what my family thought, but I was determined.

Since then I have run numerous races of varying lengths, coached cross country and am able to travel with my husband running races. I look forward to many more days filled with running!

ps. Stay tuned and I will tell you more about my first marathon!

Wednesdays

My husband and I are currently sharing one car, which we have done multiple times throughout our marriage. (side note: If you are looking for a way to save money, this will save some money. Save on gas, insurance, taxes, and you spend less money if you can not go anywhere.) We have a schedule worked out that Grace and I every Wednesday take Daddy to work and get the car! If you do not have a car everyday you really appreciate it! I have all our errands planned out, coupons cut and lists made. (This is also why I make out a menu for the week)

Grace has been just growing like a weed lately, which means she is getting a lot heavier too! (When we weighed her tonight she was 18 pounds!) Since she is getting heavier... I HATE carrying around that car seat! In some ways it is easy because you don't have to unstrap her, worry about her touching yucky germs, and usually her paci and toys stay in her seat with her. We tried today when we went to Target to use the cute cart cover. She was captivated looking around at everything. I had to put a blanket balled up beside her to keep her propped up, but it worked. I am still trying to figure out which was is easier?? Either way it is always fun trying something new with this little one!

Grandma Came For The Weekend!

We had such a great weekend... Because Grandma came! I love it when family comes to visit! Michael and I have an open door policy to family. We are so excited to have our own house with a spare bedroom for family and friends to come and stay.

Grandma had not come to see us since October so it was definitely a treat for her to be here. (She lives a little over 4 hours away.) Grace laughed, played, and screamed for Grandma. She even gave her some "special" kisses.

Grandma played with Grace so mommy and daddy could have some alone time. What did we do? We trimmed trees and picked up sticks, while it was freezing and some snow flurries. Not exactly what I had in mind for alone time, but we love being outside and together so it was perfect.

We can not wait to host more family in our new home!

"Home" Part 2

We are glad to announce that we have found a church. I was venting not too long ago that we had not yet found a church. Total we ended up visiting six churches and were really torn between a few. We wanted a church that first of all we would grow spiritually. All the other things we wanted in a church were just preferences and not must haves, which really can fog your view. So when it came down to finally make a decision we ended up choosing the church that we thought we would grow the most. Our new church is Grace View Church. We really have enjoyed the teaching and preaching. We are now very excited to make relationships and grow in our Savior at our new church!

"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them." Matthew 18:20
